About frugal underground

frugal underground started in June of 2005 with the goal of sharing some financial knowledge and collecting things that are scattered (on the web, in my files, in my head, around my office…).
As far as the knowledge goes, well, I’m an early adopter who spends a whole lot of time on the Internet. I’m also a bargain hunter, and those two facts combine online in a way that compells me to tell people about interesting new “free money games” and strategies.
Originally (pre-June 2005), I had a simple, simple site that contained what you can now find in the “Articles” section. My friends kept asking me about mystery shopping and online surveys, so I thought it made sense to put all the best info I could come up with in one easily-accessible place.
Eventually, though, I wanted to expand. I wanted to feature small snippets (that wouldn’t be enough for a full article) and timely news that would help people in the same way the articles did. Since I’ve been doing this, I’ve found lots of other folks who are doing the same thing. I love the Internet!
If you’re new here, you might be wondering what you can expect. Most of my site is written from an “around the house” perspective, meaning that I’m much more likely to share household tips and personal finance ideas than in-depth investing or corporate finance info. I don’t have kids, but I practically still am one (at heart, anyway), so you’ll see (cheap) fun projects featured. I am also finding that many of this site’s visitors find it while searching for frugal meal planning ideas, so I’m planning on featuring more of those in the future.
