Edible presents can be a real treat for some people. Good food, desserts or snacks can definitely say that you care. Here are some gifts of food ideas.
- Home baked bread (recipe included)
- Chocolate bars with fancy wrapping
- Home baked cookies
- Pancake or waffle mix with genuine maple syrup
- A home-baked cake personally decorated
- A home-cooked ethnic meal
- Home-made cinnamon buns (with extra frosting on the side)
- Home-made ice cream
- Gourmet popcorn
- Coffee beans
A nice basket, bow, ribbon, or nice wrapping paper can dress these gifts up nicely. Add a little note card with a special message, and your gift of food is complete. It is also a nice idea to give the recipe if the item is homemade. Plenty of people would love a gift they can enjoy inside and out. (Just make sure you aren’t ruining someone’s diet!)

I just read a great food gift idea that I’m going to implement next year for my FIL’s birthday. Basically, you make your own ‘X of the month’ club and give a gift subscription to that. So for example, you make up a little gift certificate to the “Pie of the Month Club”. Then you make a different pie each month for that person. Obviously this works best if you live next to the giftee. I figure it can be used with so many things–bread, cookies, cakes, even dinners or drinks.
Now that’s a great idea! My only concern would be getting distracted six months in and not actually doing it.
I have a tendency to jump into new, great ideas and then get obsessed with some OTHER new, great idea.
I might have to think of variations with non-perishables that I could prep in the height of my enthusiasm and then easily continue even when I’ve mentally moved on.
I really like this idea, though. Thanks for sharing it!
Oh, I like your idea of prepping some things ahead of time. I am a little fearful that I’ll forget, as well, but I was planning on putting a reminder on the calendar each month, for the whole year, when I give the gift. I have the same tendency!
I have always liked these ideas for gifts! What a great way to save a little and give something people can really use!
Hey, Randi, you could totally do an “earrings of the month club”!
